The Others

donotcross One of the weirdest metal albums I know. In the best way possible. You probably wouldn´t guess, that doom metal can sound this way. But Northern Crown know better and absolutely destroy. Although it is a debut, they sound mature and confident. Original and refreshing, definitely worth checking out. Favorite track: No One Came To Mourn Me.

sir_c This track feels like the summary of the whole album; all elements are comprised in this one song. It's one of my favourites of 2016. Great work Favorite track: Les Autres.

Akira Watts Pound for pound, one of the most purely entertaining albums of the year. On initial impression a standard, if well written and executed, doom album. But the more you listen, the more oddities jump out at you. The falsetto backing vocals, buried way down in the mix on "With Malicious Eye." The bizarre piano lurches on "A Pox Upon Your House." Whatever the hell is going on in "No One Came To Mourn Me."

This is some weird and deeply fun music. Favorite track: With Malicious Eye.

1.
(solo: Zachary) With every word, she lied Casts a short glance Of revealing intent Taking my place alongside Gazed upon with malicious eye Striking, unforgiving Tempting, unsagacious Brief and precious From whence she came, obscure Slight glimmer of hope Or a foolish wish I remain of her, unsure (solo: Zachary) In despair, I turn to her In the stars I saw The end, already written I now fear her love unpure Gazed upon with malicious eye Striking, unforgiving Tempting, unsagacious Brief and precious With every word, she lied Casts a short glance Of revealing intent Taking my place alongside Gazed upon with malicious eye Striking, unforgiving Tempting, unsagacious Brief and precious

(solo: Leona) Slowly start to wake And live amongst the stars Experience sidereal ecstasy Seeing cosmic bazaars I see the colors you don't see Running down the wall Infinity between spaces Unfamiliar sights enthrall But now I start to wonder Do the others know Will they persecute me For the power I have grown I see the colors you don't see Running down the wall Infinity between spaces Unfamiliar sights enthrall Reality changing Rearranging Courage waning Madness reigning You can see me But won't come near Can you hear me I can smell your fear You'll never know When I draw near You softly breathing See your dreams quite clear (solo: Zachary) They'll never find me But they'll never try at all Dead body lying The soul beigins to crawl (solo: Frank) If you know my secrets Then in blood you'll drown If you choose to defy me I'll bring my hammer down I see the colors you don't see Running down the wall Infinity between spaces Unfamiliar sights enthrall Reality changing Rearranging Courage waning Madness reigning
3.
No one came to mourn me Nights of obsession And endless decades Wasted on frivolity I never saw those who loved me Myopic from ambition A life without respite Unaware of coming tragedy (Solo: Frank) I missed those who sought me Often lost and never found But from the fate I did not flee Under the oak tree Forlorn and alone He wipes a tear As no one came to mourn me
4.
Apostate 07:56
Contemplating loss of faith And waxing upon matters of fate Ready for the longing to abate All shall be well, the lady sayth Time to abandon wishful lies Will not recant, no desire to try The wishes of the divine, I defied When I witnessed truth in her eye In times besieged by conflict Life, death, the ascent, the fall After time erodes and driving winds Who will succumb, who stands tall Craving war is in our blood But the wise ones will choose their battles While the brave and foolish Will surely fall (Solo: Zachary) How many times have I stood before On this unhallowed field Draw into a harried maelstrom From the anger that I wield (Solo: Vincent) As I settle into the fog of war Bloodlust overtakes me Hear only the death rattle Full depth of rage unsealed Today will I choose To die upon this hill My deadliest enemy Is my dying will

6.
Les Autres 11:01
(Solo: Frank) A torment for me, realized Burns bright and won't subside Did you that hell is The Others I now know that hell is The Others In an empty room With barren walls Risen again and standing tall A tiny feat, yet not so small Brave enough to face the world again But we both know how this will end A glimpse of joys beyond reproach They escape as I approach As I try to explain How my life and soul it drains The Others, inhumane And indifferent to the pain (Solo: Frank) A puzzled look arrives And I begin to sigh As you dare to ask why I want to die The bile rises in my throat cuts off air, I begin to choke From this pain there grows no love As no hand ever came from above My mind goes blank My vision turns red And comes the violence That I most dread Feral and uncaged And blind with rage is this the time I go too far Take a deep breath And begin to regain control Hijacked by extreme passion But I can control my actions But I see a glance Another, not by chance The Others judging gaze Perception becomes crazed (Solo: Evan) Hell is The Others (Solo: Evan) Hell is The Others And my Hell is You (Solo: Frank)

about

Northern Crown Florida

In the cracks between the Doom, Prog, and Rock n’ Roll genres, Northern Crown find a unique fit. Their first EP, “In the Hands of the Betrayer”, knocked on the door to the halls of classic metal. Their first album, “The Others”, tested its footing on the fringe of prog. Their self-titled second album was a hydra waving the flag of Doom n’ Roll. "In A Pallid Shadow" will be released July 3, 2020. ... more
